Our long experience in the education, skills and qualifications arena gives us an almost unique overview of events and policies as they have developed in modern times. From the original introduction of business studies as a higher-level subject in colleges in the 1960s and 70s, through the foundation of Industry Training Boards in the same era, to the very latest developments in apprenticeships, technical certificates and Foundation Degrees, our senior staff have a sound understanding and detailed knowledge.
We were involved in the gradual replacement of ITBs and NSTOs by National Training Organisations (NTOs) during the late 1980s, and with their subsequent replacement by Sector Skills Councils more recently. Similarly, our staff have been deeply involved in every stage of national education and qualification development since the mid 1980s - from the very earliest development of standards and NVQs to the exciting introduction of the new apprenticeship framework and the powerful expansion of Foundation Degrees.
Our recent policy work has included a review of regional networks, an examination of education fees policy, a sectoral review and recommendations on apprenticeship frameworks, and a national policy development project on management and leadership for the smallest businesses.
