Sector Skills Agreement Research

Manufacturers in the UK today face the dual challenge of the need to increase investment in skills while at the same time reducing costs in the interest of international competitiveness. The Sector Skills Agreement for these industries is, therefore, critical to ensuring that limited resources are allocated to the right kinds of education and training to address current and future skills needs.

Pye Tait has been commissioned by the process manufacturing industries' Sector Skill Council to carry out the requisite research for Stages 1-3 of their Sector Skills Agreement. Stage 1 will entail a thorough Skills Needs Assessment, through large scale surveying and consultation with employers. Stage 2 complements this in the form of a Skills Supply Assessment of current training provision. Finally, Stage 3 brings the two together to assess Skills Gaps and Priorities for future action.

The national and regional analysis will form the basis for the industries to move forward in the agreement of their Action Plan for Skills over the following three years.
